Session: PANEL DISCUSSION: Speaking the language of tech: How can we work and communicate with non-tech professionals to achieve better project results?

Kathryn King is the General Manager, Technology and Strategy Group and former Chief Information Officer for Australia’s eSafety Commissioner (eSafety). She has extensive experience across the private and public sector leading digital transformation and innovation initiatives.

Kathryn started her early professional career as a teacher in the United States, where she established her love of learning and leading others on that same journey. Over the years Kathryn has held various operational and strategic roles at major media organisations, including Channel Nine, ACP Magazines and Bauer Media, where she played a pivotal role in implementing strategies to create a digital first workforce. She has also held senior executive positions in the public service where she has established critical technology capabilities that have supported eSafety’s mission to keep Australians safe online.

These achievements have been recognised by awards such as a 2020 Webby Honoree, cowinner of the inaugural 2021 American Chamber of Commerce Award in the Digital Economy category, Innovation Australia Award Finalist recognition and most recently ranking #18 on the 2023 list of Australia’s Top 50 CIOs.

Kathryn holds undergraduate degrees in English Literature and Spanish, an MBA in Computing and Technology and various qualifications and certifications in IT governance, strategy, cyber security, and management.
